    Lucky Cheng's boasts "reality is illusion and things aren't always what they seem." Dining & Entertainment courtesy of beautiful drag queens (Paloma was our favorite). Food is quite good, a blend of Asian and Creole. You must order the HiHeel Shoe dessert, "One of Imelda's." Size 8 Ferragamo pump. Solid chocolate filled with rasberry mousse & whipped cream.

RED BEANS & RICE, MUFFULETTA'S, PO-BOY'S, BEIGNETS, CAJUN CATFISH, DRUMFISH & CRAWFISH. THE BEST PART IS THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO COST A LOT TO TASTE GOOD

  • Johnny's PoBoy -511 St. Louis St. Mind-boggling po-boys.
  • Mother's -491 Poydras. Great PoBoys. Definitely an experience. Get the bread pudding.
  • Progress Grocery Store -915 Decatur. A good suggestion is to stop there on your way to the airport and take some muffulettas home with you!!
  • Central Grocery Store -923 Decatur. Italian store featuring plate-sized muffulettas.
  • Liuzza's by the Track -1518 N. Lopez. A staple for post Jazz fest po-boys.

    PRALINES
  • Old Town Praline Shop -627 Royal--where the locals go
  • Aunt Sally's Pralines -810 Decatur--lets you watch them being made
  • Laura's Candies -600 Conti--try and leave there empty-handed
  • Leah's-714 St Louis--rumored to be the best, open 'til 10pm

  • Shim Sham Club and Juke Joint -615 Toulouse -Loungy, hip spot. Lots of eclectic live music.
  • Tipitina's FQ -233 N. Peters. You'll see some of the best music ever.
  • Margaritaville -1104 Decatur. Even though Buffet owns the joint, music is mostly from Louisiana.
  • The Storyville District -125 Bourbon. If you love music featured at the Jazz Fest, then you'll love it here.
  • House of Blues and the Parish -225 Decatur. Reliable offering of local & national acts. Surprisingly comfortable for a chain.
  • Funky Butt at Congo Square -Cozy club, mostly jazz.
  • Marie Laveau Voodoo Bar -509 Decatur. Ok, nothing to do w/music but a tiny, cute bar anyway!
  • Ye Olde Original Dungeon -738 Toulouse. Doesn't open until midnight. Needs to be seen (or walked thru).
  • Crescent City Brewhouse -527 Decatur. Good beer, features jazzs combos
  • Donna's -800 N. Rampart. Headquarters for brass bands.
  • OZ -800 Bourbon. Gay disco with one of the best sound systems, great place to dance regardless of your sexual orientation.
  • Kermit Ruffins' Jazz & Blues Hall -1533 St. Philip St. Cozy & intimate jazz.
  • Mama's (Got The) Blues -616 N. Rampart. Located upstairs from Mama Rosa's pizza joint. Lots of blues.
  • El Matador -504 Esplanade. Eclectic, small, intimate.

Also has wonderful jewelry designed by local artists, FAROY candles, spa products. Always something to catch your eye. The type of store that you visit for a gift for someone else and leave with 2 presents for yourself. Follow the bubbles to this GEM of a store!
  • Feet First -518 Chartres--Designer women's shoes at a great price
  • James Jensen Featuring His Wonderful Line of Glamour Trash -located at the back of the French Market, usually at the outside tent. The humor in his jewelry radiates as brightly as his wonderful wit (not to mention the shine from his head!). Using old records he concocts many unforgettable creations. He is a real treasure! Stay tuned for a website.
  • Ladies' Quarter -427 Royal--Everytime we visit NO, we always make a pilgrimmage to this wonderful boutique and we have yet to leave empty-handed! Wonderful whimsical accessories from reading glasses to scarves & hats to pins. They also have accessories for the home as well, touches that will charm and delight. A must!
  • Hemline -609 Chartres--Fashion forward. Women's apparel, lingerie, accessories, & shoes. A one-stop shop for the truly hip.
